Your Symptom Is A Messenger

Everything in nature is constantly in flux... and so are we.

What you eat today will not necessarily be the right meal for your you next week, or even tomorrow. We have our own unique bio-individuality which means no way of eating is right for all.

I say way of eating as I refrain from using the word diet on this blog. Unless, of course, it’s educating those who have been on the diet / binge eating roller coaster for most of their life, like I have.

So how do we know what to eat? How do we know what our body needs to heal itself from chronic illness, inflammation, digestive issues..? How do we know what to eat in order to maintain good health or prevent illness? How do we know what to eat just so we can maintain energy for the entire day, or lose those extra 20 pounds we’ve been trying to lose for the last 10 years?

All of these questions I started to ask myself about a year and a half ago. I had been living in New York City for six months and my body decided to go on strike.

I had severe acne, my hair was falling out by the handful, I had no energy to go to my full-time job, let alone to hangout with friends or get to the gym. I had started having chronic problems with my digestion and was allergic to several different foods I had eaten my entire life.

I observed my friends living their normal lives, the life I had lived for the past 25 years although was no longer healthy enough to participate in. I wondered why I was falling apart..

At the time, I was angry and resentful towards my body as I was convinced it had failed me. We were no longer in it together.

Now, I understand, we were always in it together. Our bodies never fail us. They don’t make mistakes. Symptoms arise as messengers from the body that something is not right and needs our immediate attention.

The messages are first in whispers (skin problems, bloating, fatigue, headaches) although we don’t listen to the whispers.

We push on through our busy schedules.

We slap some benzoyl peroxide onto our breakouts.

Coffee and sugar become our allies to get us through the day.

Advil becomes the safety net for the daily headaches.

Of course, after ignoring our bodies messages the whispers become louder and our symptoms become worse. We see a doctor and they put a prescription in our hands, because they truly believe they are serving up the cure.

I will tell you right now.. for whatever you are experiencing, there is no cure. There is only remission. We need to make permanent adjustments to our diet and lifestyle to see permanent improvement.

So eventually the bodies whispers turn into screams, and chronic illness or disease manifests.By not addressing the root cause of whatever is going on, eventually the body will become more out of balance.

The good news is, your body is already working around the clock to bring you back to good health! All you need to do now.. is start listening.

Whether you are here because you want to learn how to restore, maintain or prevent imbalance in the body. Or whether you just want to learn how to follow your internal wisdom. You are in the right place.

First step.

Take a deep breath.

Our bodies know how to heal.

They are on our team.

I promise.

With SO much love,

xXx
