The Low-Down on Birth Control

Birth control is a controversial subject at the moment with more and more side effects being revealed.

So why do so many women opt for this drug? Below are the most common reasons why it is prescribed to women:

  • Acne breakouts
  • Heavy, painful or irregular periods
  • Severe PMS symptoms
  • To treat Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Primary Ovarian Insufficiency (POI), endometriosis or fibroids
  • As a form of contraception

Let's start with a brief overview of what the pill is doing in your body to reduce the above symptoms.

The pill and various other hormonal contraceptives contain synthetic hormones like estrogen and progestin.

These hormones work to mimic the body's natural cycle and prevent pregnancy due to stopping the ovulation phase of your cycle.

These man-made chemicals have been designed to inhibit the natural cycle and create a new cycle less problematic as it's ultimately a fake cycle regulated with synthetic hormones.

This means clearer skin and less problematic symptoms menstruation symptoms, which is why so many doctors are willing to write us a script as they know it will "help" our symptoms go away.

The Power of Hormones

The endocrine system (which controls hormone production) is the most significant part of the female body when it comes to your fertility and reproduction.

When this system is disturbed, all your hormones will be messed up leaving you with some pretty awful symptoms.

As I will say time and time again, If your hormones are out of balance, it can turn your life upside down leaving you feeling like you are no longer in control of your body or your emotions.

This is a major reason why so many women stay on the pill... because they are truly terrified of what may happen if they stop taking it.

For anyone who is afraid to come off the pill as they don't trust what their body will do, remember that nature has been regulating our hormones for hundreds of thousands of years.

Before we were exposed to all the endocrine disruptors that we are exposed to today, women all menstruated together with the new moon and ovulated with the full moon.

The endocrine system is a magnificently complex system of glands and organs. It's wants to secrete the right balance of hormones leaving you fertile and feeling and looking great.

This complex system is disrupted by commonly used toxins and chemicals found in things like fragrances, cosmetics, tupperware, cleaning products, air pollution and what you eat.

When you become conscious of the harmful disruptors and start to remove these from your life, your endocrine system starts to restore back to it's natural state and your hormones begin to balance.

Our bodies know exactly what they need to do, I assure you. We are the ones who get in our own way. Your body hasn't broken down randomly. This is the result of a long and windy road of reoccurring breakdowns which has disrupted the natural rhythm of your hormones.

If you are considering getting off the pill but are scared to take the plunge, commit to the protocol which will help to balance out all your hormone levels.

Then you will know for sure you are safe to transition off the contraceptive pill, as well as any other medications (once your body has given you the clear signal that it is time).

Sending you all my love.
